Principal Engineer

Gerton is a Principal Process Engineer at SGS Sulphur Experts’ Sulphur Division with over 25 years of gas processing experience, most of which has focused on the design and optimisation of sulphur recovery units, incinerators and related processes. Gerton has been involved in more than 100 engineering design and optimization projects and executed projects in more than 35 countries. His experience includes process design and basic and detailed engineering of various components of sulphur facilities including sulphur recovery, sour water stripping, sulphur degassing, incineration and tail gas treating units such as Euroclaus®, Superclaus® and SCOT. Gerton has been involved in plant optimization, debottlenecking and scoping studies, capacity increase and turndown evaluations, as well as operator training.

On more than 40 occasions Gerton provided expert technical assistance during plant inspection, commissioning, and start-up and shutdown projects around the world.  In addition, he has been involved in many performance tests over the last 15 years.

One of the highlights of Gerton’s sulphur career was a burner control optimization project that was awarded the President’s Operational Excellence Award in the category Environmental Excellence by Suncor. Gerton has written and presented numerous papers at world renowned seminars and conferences such as SOGAT, MEScon, CRU Sulphur, LARTC, Heavy Oil Conference, LRGCC in Oklahoma and Brimstone Vail.
