Catalyst Evaluation
One of the key areas in maintaining high recovery efficiencies in a sulphur recovery or tail gas clean-up process is the activity of the catalyst systems. Sulphur Experts on-site testing work will definitively determine the current performance of a catalyst system and the potential need for a catalyst change. These tests are often conducted either prior to an upcoming plant turn-around to determine if a catalyst change is warranted, or after a major plant upset which has resulted in degraded performance.
The Claus catalyst evaluation report will typically include:
- catalyst activity and recommendations on required catalyst rejuvenation or replacement
- actual and recommended catalyst bed operating temperatures, sulphur dew point temperatures and sulphur dew point margins at current load conditions
- COS and CS2 hydrolysis rates for each Claus converter and their effect on the overall plant efficiency
The TGU catalyst evaluation report will typically include:
- catalyst activity and recommendations on required catalyst rejuvenation or replacement
- actual and recommended catalyst bed operating temperatures
- SO2, COS and CS2 conversion rates and their effect on the overall plant efficiency
- CO conversion rates and their effect on TGU emissions
Sulphur Experts catalyst evaluation test removes the guess-work and provides the technical support clients require to effectively plan for catalyst replacement.
