Best Management Practice (BMP)

Energy Experts participated in the development the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Best Management Practices (BMPs) covering key unit operations in the upstream oil and gas industry. Through this knowledge, Energy Experts is continuing to develop a range of equipment/process-specific energy management programs to assist the industry in implementing cost-effective energy conservation programs. These programs build on our strengths and address some of the largest and most common energy reduction opportunities identified to date.

Energy Experts coordinated much of the work that went into the BMPs and authored 7 of the 17 BMP documents. Energy Experts can assist companies to reduce fuel gas consumption and GHG emissions through effective implementation of the BMPs. Where necessary, Energy Experts will supplement its team with other BMP authors to ensure our clients have access to the best expertise in the industry.

The BMPs developed for the upstream oil and Gas Industry include:

  • Gas Gathering Systems
  • Pumpjacks
  • Pneumatic Instruments
  • Flaring Operations
  • Chemical Injection Pumps
  • Fired Heaters
  • Engines
  • Compressors
  • Glycol Dehydrators
  • Desiccant Dehydration
  • Measurement and Reporting
  • Fractionation
  • Refrigeration
  • Amine Systems
  • Sulphur Plants
  • Tail Gas Incinerators
  • Acid Gas Injection

The BMPs are available on the CAPP website at www.capp.ca
